Right this moment, I'm currently sitting in the living room all by myself listening to THE greatest artist in the world, can you guess who? Dallas Green. In case you don't know him, I'll write a little biography about this talented young man. Dallas Green was born September 29, 1980. A Juno-Award winning singer-songwriter and musician, known for his work as guitarist and singer for the post-hardcore band Alexisonfire and his folk side project, City and Colour. Before joining Alexisonfire, Green was in a band called Helicon Blue, producing several songs before breaking up. The three piece band also featured Marce Lanteigne on bass and vocal, and Nicholas Osczypko on drums. The band recorded a self-titled release with Greg Below from Distort Entertainment, who also recorded a second record with the band which included; My Last Breath, Sunder, Greater Victory & Perpetual Healing. Dallas began playing with Alexisonfire in late 2001. Since then, they have released three albums (Alexisonfire, Watch Out!, and Crisis), and several EPs. His melodic and piercing vocal range often brings a large presence in most of the band's songs.
In 2003 he appeared (along with George Petit) on Jude the Obscure's album "The Coldest Winter", doing additional vocals on 3 songs.
One of the first appearances of Green outside of Alexisonfire is on Neverending White Lights' collaborative album Act 1: Goodbye Friends of the Heavenly Bodies, released in 2005. He contributed vocals to the song "The Grace". Green provided additional vocals on the track "INRihab" with Every Time I Die as well as on the track "Black Albino Bones" with Fucked Up on their second full length album, The Chemistry of Common Life.
City and Colour's first music video, "Save Your Scissors", from the now gold-rated album Sometimes, was released on January 17, 2006, featuring some of his best friends, band mates and favourite places in his hometown, St. Catharines, Ontario. The second video, "Comin' Home", went number one on MuchMoreMusic's video countdown.
City and Colour also released a live CD/DVD entitled Live on March 6, 2007 which includes two different live performances and a special performance with Ron Sexsmith. A limited edition has also been released at the same time. It included a USB key with footage from MMVA and Much on Demand performances[3].
On February 12, 2008, Green released a new full-length studio album entitled Bring Me Your Love under the moniker City and Colour. It was published under the label of Dine Alone Records. The music video for the first single, "Waiting...", was released on January 24, 2008. On June 6, 2008, "Sleeping Sickness", the second single for the album, was issued and on June 27, a music video was made by Montreal-based director Vincent Morisset. This second single also features The Tragically Hip's Gordon Downie's vocals in the second verse.
Bravo! aired an hour-long City & Colour performance for their Live at the Concert Hall... series on August 26, 2008. The performance included interviews, several songs from his latest album, Bring Me Your Love, and also a few songs from his debut, Sometimes, where he included his backing band into the songs.
In case you did not notice, I did not write this. I stole it from Wikipedia, hehe. I wouldn't know all these little facts about himself. When I read this, I was stunned that he's a skateboarder and has been since the age of 8. He's one amazing guy, if you ask me. Whenever I'm feelin' blue, I know for a fact that I can ALWAYS listen to him. Cuhz, he's so soothing whenever you listen to him, he sooths my anger, sadness away whenever I hear his music.
Anyways, sorry that I haven't been blogging. I have been busy doing other things such as homework, school, and all. I truly apologize for all that. I know how you really enjoy it whenever I blog. During the mornings, whenever I get ready for school I always have to have my chapstick but when I found out earlier this morning, I'm running out of my SOFT LIPS! So, the whole day I basically just licked my lips cuhz I'm runnin' out, it's the greatest chapstick that man ever created in this world, forget the ipods, cellphones, and all. My lips feels so naked without Soft Lips, I always got to have that. I just checked my pockets and I think I have lost it! :[ I'm so devastated, I just lost my life. I think I'm going to cower over to my corner and cry until I get a new chapstick. Night.
